Your interest-based nervous system

Your result suggests a “hunter brain” in a “farmer world.” The biggest myth about ADHD is that it’s an attention deficit. That’s not accurate. It’s an interest-based attention system.

Your brain has two main modes:

“Hunter mode” (hyperfocus): When you’re activated, you’re locked in. You can concentrate more intensely and for longer than most people. This is your optimal state—like an ER doctor on call, where priorities are clear and everything else fades into the background.
“Boredom mode” (depression-like): When your brain is not activated, it can feel like a heavy depression. The world turns gray, everything is effortful. This often happens in environments where “everything is kind of important,” but nothing is really urgent.

The ignition keys to your focus:

Your system doesn’t respond to “This is important,” but to:

Interest: Genuine fascination that comes from within.
Urgency: Real consequences that happen now.
Challenge: The drive to “crack” a problem or win.
Novelty: The pull of the unknown and different.

What that means for you:

Work with your brain: Don’t try to force it with sheer willpower when no “ignition key” fits. Instead, “hack” your activation: set artificial deadlines (urgency), turn it into a game (challenge), or find a personal connection (interest).
Watch out for “junk food” for the brain: The modern world (social media, constant notifications) is toxic for your system. It constantly simulates novelty and urgency without offering real satisfaction. This can lead to chronic overload and “jumping around” without ever reaching hyperfocus.
Managing boredom: Recognize that your sense of “paralysis” is often not depression, but a lack of activation.
